One Year of Angels & Demons!

One year ago today: February 19th, 2022… The first demo of Angels & Demons was released! Let’s look at some milestones that the first year of the game being public has brought!

  1. I’ve posted nine different development update videos, showcasing the various things that have been added, or will someday be added to Angels & Demons!
  2. The whole game got an artistic uplift! Nearly every sprite was re-made in a cleaner art style!
  3. Demo #2 was released! Demo 2 contained all the graphical updates, balance changes, story adjustments, and much more!
  4. Angels & Demons has been downloaded almost 100 times from Itch.io!
  5. The Steam page for Angels & Demons was published, and has reached 43 Wishlists!!

I’m super thankful for the support that has been shown to Angels & Demons so far!

To celebrate, I’d like to give a short text-based dev update to talk about the current status of Demo #3!

Enemies: Nearly every enemy is finished now! I’m just working out bugs with certain attacks, and stat-balancing. I can’t share much about these enemies, but I’ll give a few small tidbits of information. One battle takes place entirely in the overworld. No turn based battle for this one! Another battle features lots of moving parts. Background elements and the enemies themselves sync up with the music way more than usual! And some of these battles will be different depending on your actions before, during, and after certain events…

Cutscenes: Almost all of the cutscenes are finished! I have about 10 left to animate. These specific cutscenes are going to take time to work out since they’re really big. I’ve been putting some huge detail in to perspective and camera movement for these, so it’s gonna be really cool when it all comes together.

Balancing: Lots of things have been rebalanced to make the game feel better and/or easier to play! Stat scaling of nearly every enemy has been (and still is being) adjusted to progress better. This allows for attack typing and status effects to have more of an impact to strategy and gameplay.

Finally, to give a release estimate: I’m aiming to have Demo #3 released sometime before March 24th. I’ll have another announcement to make about that date specifically sometime in the future.

Thanks for following the development of Angels & Demons! I hope the next year will be even more exciting for development than this one has been!
