Demo #4 v2.0.0 (MULTIPLAYER UPDATE)


MULTIPLAYER IS FINALLY HERE! I think everything is stable, but there could be a few edge case bugs that were missed. As always, you can submit bug reports via the Discord Server, or via email (journoid@journoid.net)

NEW FEATURES

  • Local Multiplayer Versus Mode (Up to 4 player splitscreen.)
  • Local Multiplayer Co-op Mode (Up to 5 players.)

  • Online Multiplayer Rhythm Game Mode.

Balance Changes

  • Increased the jump window for Bloodwrath’s Team Jump! attack.
  • Decreased the difficulty of Cultstep’s Easy Rhythm Chart.
  • Decreased the time the Boss Rush Secret Boss’s Team Freestyle! attack sections last. (20 -> 13)
  • Adjusted the rate that the hit window of Kaguya’s Combo Jump attack decreases. (6 frames per jump -> 2 frames per jump)
  • Decreased the frames that Autumn can change direction, or parry with her Spotdodge. (5 -> 3)
  • Increased Autumn’s jump height to match MC’s.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed a bug where the War Zone portal would not spawn after escaping.
  • Fixed Possessed Gunman fight using the wrong battle room.
  • Fixed a collision issue in w2_mountains_2.
  • Fixed a tiling error in w2_mountains_1.
  • Fixed a tiling error in w2_mountains_2.
  • Fixed an issue where the W2 Rhythm Game intro dialog could use the wrong character portraits.
  • Fixed Deep Woods skip FOR REAL this time.
  • Fixed a bug where hitting enemies in the overworld with certain attacks would cause them to slide around.
  • Fixed a bug where hitting enemies in the overworld with certain attacks could cause them to get stuck in an animation.
  • Adjusted Hector’s crawling animation speed.
  • Fixed Camp Arwood using an older version of it’s background music.
  • Fixed the Menu Controls rebind missing options for Menu Extra 1 and Menu Extra 2.
  • Fixed an issue where Special Attack previews could be misaligned or hiddne if the camera was moving while inside the Special Attack Menu.
  • Fixed an exploit that you to jump in midair if you swapped characters while airborne.
  • Fixed some issues with prayers not working as intended.
  • Fixed a wall extending too far out in w1_desert_1.
  • Fixed visual issue where party members would fly in from the room origin if you changed characters from the pause menu.
  • Fixed a soft lock in the World 2 Dream with the first set of mushrooms.
  • Fixed an issue where, Yui, Kaguya, and Autumn could not crawl if the runkey was held, or autorun was toggled.
  • Fixed a layering issue in W1 Dream.
  • Fixed player name defaulting to “Journey” (for real this time.)
  • Fixed an issue where you wouldn’t properly snap to a grindrail when colliding from below.
  • Decreased chance of “phantom scarf reticles” appearing.
  • Fixed the red coloring for “flying enemy” mentions in special attack descriptions bleeding into the AP requirement text.
  • Fixed an animation issue, where Yui would continually smack the air after completing the Angelic Spike attack.
  • Added missing a door to the map graphic for w2_forest_5.
  • Fixed the attack previews for Angelic Glide and Angel Airlines not looping.
  • Fixed an issue where characters wouldn’t make it back to their default position before entering the victory state.
  • Fixed spelling errors.

Quality of Life Changes

  • Added Indicators to show Sort and Filter options in item menus.
  • Added color to the “Quit to title” option in the pause menu, to help avoid accidental selection.
  • Decreased contrast of the background assets and tiles in Chapel Town for visibility between what is and isn’t collision.
  • Added a floaty effect to each character’s HP/AP portrait in item menus to more easily visualize who is being selected.
  • You can now jump on spiked enemies IF affected by Substitute or Prayer for Protection.
  • Changed the sprites of the Rhythm Game Judgements to be more easily readable.
  • Changed the background used in Boss Rush.
  • Removed the real-time blur effect in Boss Rush in order to be more efficient on slower hardware.
  • Removed the blur effect in the First Run room in order to be more efficient on slower hardware.
  • Added a low pass filter effect to the Boss Rush Secret Boss’s Sequence! and Mash! attacks.
  • Added some shadows to the level up screen for visibility.
  • Changed the level up background to a higher quality, different colored gradient.
  • Removed some unused assets.
  • Changed the way controller inputs display in menus. It should now display a much more “readable” name (For example, “A” instead of “Gamepad Button Face East.”)
  • Changed the input window for the Jump attack, and Kaguya’s Combo Jump attack to be more forgiving.
  • Added a Lowpass Filter effect to Kaguya’s Combo Jump attack.
  • Added a Lowpass Filter effect to Hector’s Clone Conundrum attack.
  • Changed the animation that Hector plays when revealing the Clone Machine.
  • Adjusted the camera position in Clone Conundrum.
  • Changed how prayers requests are handled to (ideally) favor the player a bit more.
  • MAX CRITS status effects can now stack.
  • You can also randomly get a critical hit WHILE having a MAX CRIT effect.
  • Adjusted the way semi-solid platforms work to be more accurate.
  • Decreased crawl/crouch hitbox width.
  • Gave Kaguya a sprite for entering doors.
  • Added extra enemies to fights when playing co-op/using more than the normal amount of characters.
  • Increased readability of the HP UI font.
  • Added a player icon indicator to equipment shops. It’s much easier to know who you’re buying for now.
  • Added an extra dialog case to the W1 Dream if you’ve already found the secret door.
  • Changed the camera to overshoot based on your horizontal speed instead of the direction you’re facing when on a grindrail.
  • Adjusted the collision point when Scarf Grappling a slope.
